Privacy notice

Last updated 15 September 2026 · Issued by PropTech Limited under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

HouseBetta asks for sensitive things — your BVN, your NIN, read access to your bank transactions — so this notice is written plainly. If anything here is unclear, ask us.

1. Who we are

HouseBetta is a product of PropTech Limited. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Our registered office is H2 South Pointe Estate, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

3. What we never do

4. Who sees your data

5. How long we keep it

Your Passport data stays for as long as you keep your account. Passport checks expire after a fixed validity window and must be refreshed, so stale data is not presented as current. If you apply for rent financing and are declined, we anonymise that application after 2 years. Records we are legally required to keep (loan agreements, consents, ledger entries) are retained for the period the law requires, even after you close your account.

6. Your rights

Under the NDPA you can ask us to show you the data we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or give it to you in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent at any time — for example by unlinking your bank. We respond within 30 days.

Signed-in renters can request a copy or erasure directly from the Your data section of their dashboard. Anyone can contact us. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access inside the company is role-based and logged, and every view of personal data by our staff is recorded. We keep only what a check needs (data minimisation) and we screen our own systems continuously.

8. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a security token to protect forms. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

9. Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects you, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
